Yo, what happens when two substances collide?

I am lagging behind. My university term finished today and those time-consuming coursework projects are under temporary suspense for the next few weeks. My efforts to complete university deadlines have invariably affected my contributions to this site and my existence in the social stratosphere. For those meeting me in Rusholme on Sunday, this void will shortly be becoming something distinctly ‘un-void’. For anyone else, I hope that my site will yield some semi-interesting reading material over the New Year.

I’d like to extend gratitude to two people for whom I find it difficult [at this moment in space-time] to thank in any other way. Firstly, Katie’s postcard from Thailand came as an unexpected occurrence that improved an otherwise boring day. On the card, she asked if there would be a This Is Hope Christmas Message. In reply: I have every intention of writing a Christmas Message if I can find the right words before the festive season ends. Secondly, I only work here. Arabella is too stupid to receive an offer to study Physics at The University of Oxford. However, I am ‘grateful’ for her diligence.

Take extreme care during the torment. =-=-=-=-=-=

And by all accounts you really should have died.

  1. Glad you liked the card. Merry Christmas, Happy New year and all that Jazz.

  2. I used to have a book with ‘The Night Before Christmas’ story in it. As a child, I would always read that story in bed on Christmas Eve before I went to sleep. I don’t know where the book is anymore.

It is nostalgic for me to listen to my music as I lean out of an open window in my bedroom. I just saw a plane fly overhead and I thought how lovely it would be to be on a landing plane on Christmas Eve at about this time. There was a point when I was on the plane coming back from Germany and as we lost altitude the dense clouds formed an elliptical shape around the plane and the effect was really cool when placed on top of a background of cities lit up by street lamps. That would be especially lovely on Christmas Eve - surrounded by strangers in business suits. Laptops. Impersonality.

I think I enjoyed yesterday more than I thought I would. It was enjoyable to see everyone but I felt it was still tinged with inhibitions. People do not fully come out of themselves in a public environment. Especially when they have to think about getting home and whatever else. Hence, the atmosphere should be much better on the 27th. Which I am genuinely looking forward to. I want James to go dressed as a woman.

I HOPE that your Christmas Day zig zags its way towards something better than a Roy Orbison tribute act!

    Humour and Music.

And for those of you in Taiwan who got chumped, this chorus is for you: (Rang Tang Ding Dong, I am the Japanese Sandman… Take eight…)

    A Little Green Rosetta…………..

  3. A generic Merry Christmas.

But do humour and music belong together?

  4. Of course. Always. It has to. The best music is underpinned by the best humour. Do the general population deserve music?

“And if a double decker bus crashes into us…”

“The lunatic is in the hall - The lunatics are in my hall…”

“Drink up baby, look at the stars; I’ll kiss you again between the bars”

“Her Hitler hairdo is making me feel ill…”

“You’re still young, that’s your fault, there’s so much you have to know…”

    Wry smiles all round.

  5. Ahh, the night before Chrismas, used to read it every Christmas Eve too. Now have a toy that reads the whole story…hmmm

  6. I thought that, at Christmas, Charmless_Man would adorn a lovely new web log. Where is it?

  7. I haven’t been informed as to what part I am to play in this amazing nativity as Emma promised I would. How do I know whether I need tights or not?!

  8. Come dressed as a donkey. Or a camel.

  9. Happy birthday

  13. I’m so happy to see "Blue Coat School, Oldham (Original)" again. I thought it may have been lost.

    Happy Birthday, Tom.

  14. Thank you. Thanks to everyone who found the time to wish me a happy birthday either via TIH, text, phone, electronic/postal mail or in person.

Pizza Hut ‘Restaurants’ featured heavily in my birthday celebrations, although I never actually stepped inside one.

  15. Belated Birthday greetings and a happy New Year, from me on my shiny new Linux partition!

I’ve only wrecked Xorg once so far, about half-way into the 6 hours it took to get my graphics driver to work. Good times, good times.

  16. I’m confused, what’s the password for logging in?
I think I managed to forget to actually send you a text on your birthday despite receiving one from you so happy very belated birthday.
